The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a decorative foil and a sheet comprising such a foil, in particular to a method for manufacturing a decorative foil wherein the method comprises at least the following steps: a step of providing a thermoplastic carrier layer; a step of providing the carrier layer with an ink-receiving layer; a step of forming a decorative pattern on the carrier layer by performing a digital printing operation in which water-based ink droplets having a volume of less than 100 pL are ejected onto the carrier layer, more particularly onto the ink-receiving layer, characterized in that the ink-receiving layer comprises a binder, preferably a binder different from an acrylic copolymer, and/or silica.
