The invention belongs to the field of electrocaloric refrigeration, and particularly relates to a multilayer ceramic electrocaloric material and a preparation method thereof, and the chemical composition of pre-sintered powder in MLCs is BaZrxTi (1-x) O3-Li2CO3; wherein 0.15 < = x < = 0.3, and 1% < = Li2CO3 < = 10%. The electrocaloric effect, the sintering temperature and the sintering compactness of the pre-sintered ceramic powder are jointly regulated and controlled mainly by changing the zirconium-titanium ratio and the content of the sintering aid. Based on the pre-sintered ceramic powder with the components regulated and controlled, the MLCs device is successfully prepared through a tape casting technology, and the MLCs device has the large electrocaloric effect and the low manufacturing cost.
