Method, apparatus and system for removal of microplastics in water
The present invention provides a method, apparatus and system utilizing a floating treatment wetland designed specifically for separating microplastic debris (i.e., plastic particles of less than 5 nm) from an active water system. This process can be achieved by carefully selecting the root structure and developing a robust shell for the wetland mat, so that it can operate efficiently in torrent circumstances. A hydrodynamic glass fiber frame for wrapping and stabilizing the floating treatment wetland during storm surge is disclosed. The design of this frame may be adapted to facilitate flow to the underside of the wetland in the most appropriate amount to maximize the amount of water exposed to the biofilm filter of the wetland.
