The invention relates to the technical field of energy-saving buildings, and particularly discloses a passive energy-saving building system which comprises a greening wall body, a greening wall top mounted at the top of the greening wall body and a plurality of potting boxes which slide on the side wall of the greening wall body and are used for planting green plants, a water storage component used for collecting rainwater is arranged in the greening wall body and comprises a rainwater collecting cover installed between the greening wall body and the greening wall top and a plurality of water storage grooves formed in the inner side of the greening wall body and penetrating through the rainwater collecting cover. The size of the rain collecting cover is larger than that of the cross section of the greening wall top, and a transfer component for conveying water in the water storage tank into the potting box is arranged in the greening wall body. The method has the effect of improving the situation that the landscape plants are subjected to strong illumination under the condition that no sufficient water source is supplied, and seedlings of the landscape plants are prone to burning.
