The invention discloses a steel sheet pile tamping device for building construction, which comprises a support frame, universal wheels positioned at the bottom of the support frame, a handle positioned at the upper part of the support frame, a first driving motor positioned on the support frame, and a tamping mechanism connected with the first driving motor through a first transmission mechanism and a second transmission mechanism, the first driving motor is connected with the tamping mechanism through the first transmission mechanism and the second transmission mechanism, the tamping mechanism is driven by the first driving motor to fall and lift through the first transmission mechanism and the second transmission mechanism, and therefore tamping operation is conducted on the steel sheet pile. Falling and lifting of the tamping mechanism are achieved through mechanical connection of electric drive and a transmission mechanism, damage to the interior of a hydraulic cylinder caused by recoil force is avoided, the service life of equipment is prolonged, frequent equipment replacement is avoided, and the use cost is low; and the direction can be conveniently rotated in the tamping process so that the steel sheet pile can be evenly knocked, and the phenomenon of uneven stress is avoided.
