The invention provides a self-floating stepless displacement water taking device and a using method thereof.The device comprises a water inlet tower, a floating door groove, a stoplog door groove, an accident access door groove and an arc-shaped working door groove, and the floating door groove, the stoplog door groove, the accident access door groove and the arc-shaped working door groove are sequentially formed in the water inlet tower from upstream to downstream. A stoplog is arranged in the stoplog gate groove; a U-shaped overflowing face is formed on the floating door, surface water flows into a downstream flow channel from the U-shaped overflowing face, a cornice is arranged at the bottom of the downstream face of the floating door, a water stopping device making contact with a stoplog in a downstream stoplog gate groove is arranged at the end of the cornice, the stoplog is composed of a plurality of sections, part of the stoplog is stacked in the stoplog gate groove to stop water, and the other part of the stoplog is stored in a stoplog gate chamber. The bridge crane is used for adjusting the section number of the stoplog in the stoplog gate groove according to the change of the water level of the reservoir, and the stoplog in the stoplog gate groove is hoisted out of or into the stoplog gate reservoir.
