An apparatus and method for detecting leaks. The aim of the invention is to make it possible to detect leaks in time. The invention also relates to a construction comprising a lower layer, an upper layer and such a device wherein an absorbent material is arranged between the lower layer and the upper layer, and the construction comprising a plurality of measurement regions, at least one corresponding conduit provided for each measurement region, the second end of the conduit being positioned in the respective measurement region.
