The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a ceramic article and the ceramic article. The present invention is characterized by comprising: (i) a step of providing a powder comprising an absorber that absorbs light of a wavelength included in a laser beam to be irradiated, and silica as a main component; (ii) a step of sintering or melting and solidifying the powder by irradiating the powder with a laser beam; and (iii) a step for heat-treating the molded object formed by repeating steps (i) and (ii) at 1470 DEG C or more and less than 1730 DEG C.
