The invention discloses a height-adjustable bracket device and a steel box girder mounting method.The height-adjustable bracket device comprises a pair of symmetrically-arranged bracket mechanisms, each bracket mechanism comprises a pair of sub-bracket mechanisms, the pair of sub-bracket mechanisms are used for being arranged on parallel conveying rails correspondingly, and each sub-bracket mechanism comprises a fixed supporting section and a fixed supporting section; the upper end of the movable supporting section is fixedly connected with the lower bearing plate, the lower end of the movable supporting section is hinged to the first tensioning box, and the upper end of the movable supporting section is hinged to the lower bearing plate; the supporting platform comprises a lower bearing plate, an upper bearing plate and a universal spherical hinge mounted between the lower bearing plate and the upper bearing plate; and the first tensioning box and the second tensioning box are connected through a prestressed steel strand. A cross beam of an existing portal frame is omitted, the structure of the portal frame is simplified, the self weight of the portal frame is reduced, the transferring and lifting stability of the steel box girder is improved, and the turnover efficiency and the use efficiency of the portal frame are also improved.
