The invention relates to the field of building materials, and particularly discloses a bridge expansion joint filling material and a preparation method thereof. The bridge expansion joint filling material is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 10 to 20 parts of polyurethane resin, 1 to 3 parts of titanium dioxide, 6 to 8 parts of cement, 2 to 4 parts of mineral powder, 4 to 8 parts of magnetic particles, 0.1 to 0.3 part of curing agent, 0.5 to 1 part of dispersing agent and 5 to 10 parts of water. The polyurethane resin is waterborne polyurethane; the preparation method comprises the following steps: adding the magnetic particles and the polyurethane into an acetone solution, carrying out ultrasonic treatment, heating to 40-50 DEG C, sequentially adding the curing agent, the titanium dioxide, the mineral powder, the cement and the dispersing agent, and uniformly stirring to obtain a mixture; and filling a mold with the mixture, applying a uniform magnetic field, and taking out the mixture after curing molding to obtain the bridge expansion joint filling material. The composition can be used for filling bridge expansion joints, and has the advantage of high tensile strength.
