Ammonia dehydrogenation
A method of producing compressed hydrogen in a membrane reactor comprising a first zone separated from a second zone by a proton conducting membrane, the first zone having a gas inlet and a product outlet, and the second zone having a product outlet; the method includes; the method comprises the following steps: a, feeding ammonia-containing gas into the first area through the gas inlet, and reacting in the first area to generate hydrogen and nitrogen; b, applying an electric field on the proton conducting membrane; c, hydrogen is decomposed into electrons and protons, the electrons and the protons are selectively transmitted to the second area through the proton conducting membrane, and the protons and the electrons are recombined in the second area to form hydrogen; wherein the membrane reactor comprises a pressure regulator at the product outlet of the second zone, such that, in operation, the hydrogen partial pressure of the second zone is higher than the hydrogen partial pressure of the first zone.
