Scalable and sustainable method for converting incineration bottom ash into available aggregate
Disclosed herein is an aggregate comprising a cement, the cement comprising a common Portland cement; ground granular blast furnace slag; and bottom ash. Wherein the cement is hydrated in the presence of ground granulated blast furnace slag to form a calcium silicate hydrate or a derivative thereof, the calcium silicate hydrate or the derivative thereof enclosing bottom ash. Also disclosed herein is a method of producing an aggregate comprising mixing cement and ground granulated blast furnace slag and bottom ash in the presence of water to form a pre-coated bottom ash, and granulating the pre-coated bottom ash.
