The invention relates to a slow-release slump retaining material and a preparation method thereof, and the slow-release slump retaining material is characterized by comprising the following preparation raw materials: 60-100 parts of a first polyether macromonomer; 2-16 parts of unsaturated carboxylic acid (anhydride); 0.5 to 5.0 parts of unsaturated phosphonate; 15 to 35 parts of unsaturated carboxylic ester; 100 parts of a second polyether macromonomer; 1-5 parts of an initiator; 0.5-3.2 parts of a molecular weight regulator; allylamine is selected as an initiator to prepare a first polyether macromonomer, fluorophenoxy alkylene oxide is used for blocking the polyether monomer, and when the prepared first polyether macromonomer participates in a copolymerization reaction, molecules of the first polyether macromonomer are adsorbed on the surface layer of cement particles, so that the thickness of a water film layer between the particles can be increased, and the water-retaining property of concrete is improved; the slurry extraction effect is obvious, the slurry collection rate of the concrete is slowed down, and meanwhile, the slump retaining performance of the concrete is improved.
