The invention also discloses a preparation method of the ZrO2-based gadolinium-containing burnable poison material, a burnable poison pellet formed by processing the ZrO2-based gadolinium-containing burnable poison material, and a burnable poison rod comprising the burnable poison pellet. The ZrO2-based gadolinium-containing burnable poison material disclosed by the invention is relatively low in monoclinic phase content at normal temperature, can be stabilized in a highly symmetrical cubic phase structure, and is good in mechanical property and high in structural stability.
