The invention relates to the technical field of gate automatic control, in particular to an intelligent gate opening recognition system and a control method thereof.The intelligent gate opening recognition system comprises a gate foundation, a gate frame, a gate chamber, a gate, a winch and a traction rope, the gate chamber is installed on the gate foundation through the gate frame, and the winch is installed in the gate chamber; the winch is in transmission connection with the gate through a traction rope; the system further comprises a controller module which is installed in the lock chamber and electrically connected with the winch. The camera is electrically connected with the controller module, the camera is installed on the gate frame through a support, and a lens of the camera faces the front face or the back face of the gate; and the laser scanner is electrically connected with the controller module, the laser scanner is installed at the bottom of the gate chamber, and a laser emitting opening of the laser scanner faces the top of the gate.
