The present application relates to a ceramic sintered body comprising magnesium aluminate spinel. Disclosed is a sintered ceramic body which contains magnesium aluminate spinel having a composition of MgAl2O4 and has a cubic crystal structure of 90% to 100% by volume and a density of 3.47 g/cc to 3.58 g/cc, in which the sintered ceramic body does not contain a sintering aid. A method of preparing the spinel-containing ceramic sintered body is also disclosed.
