The invention relates to a cooking appliance, comprising a housing and a door (5) arranged on the housing so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis, for closing a cooking chamber of the cooking appliance on the front side. At least one wire (18) is laid from the housing into the door (5). The cooking appliance comprises a wire protection element (28), wherein the at least one wire (18) is arranged in a receiving chamber (29) which is at least partially delimited by the wire protection element (28) and can be moved relative to the wire protection element (28) as a result of the opening and closing of the door (5). The wire protection element (28) is arranged on a hinge base body of a hinge of the cooking appliance. The hinge base body and the conductor protection element (28) remain stationary when the door (5) is opened and closed.
