The present invention relates to a CMAS-resistant overcoating (240) comprising at least one CMAS-resistant layer, where the overcoating (240) is i. Arranged on a surface (11a) of a substrate (10a) comprising or consisting of a CMAS-resistant material, ii. Comprising a metal oxide matrix, and iii. Having an at least partially vertical columnar structure. Furthermore, at least one non-oxidizing metal component selected from the group consisting of aluminum, chromium and metal components comprising or consisting of aluminum and chromium is embedded in the metal oxide matrix. In addition, the invention relates to a substrate (10a) having a CMAS resistant overcoating (240) discussed on a surface (231) of a material susceptible to CMAS corrosion. The invention also relates to a CAE method of forming such a CMAS resistant cover coating (240) on a surface (231) of a material susceptible to CMAS corrosion.
