The invention discloses a durable SMA energy dissipation spherical support for a bridge and a method. The device comprises a lower seat plate arranged at the bottom of the device, and the lower seat plate comprises a bottom plate, a first stainless steel plate arranged on the bottom plate and first anchoring holes formed in the four corners of the bottom plate; the middle seat plate is arranged on the lower seat plate and comprises a middle seat plate base body, a longitudinal horizontal sliding plate arranged at the bottom of the middle seat plate base body and a rotating sliding plate arranged at the top of the middle seat plate base body; the spherical crown is arranged on the middle seat plate and comprises a spherical crown base body, a spherical stainless steel plate arranged at the bottom of the spherical crown base body and a transverse horizontal sliding plate arranged at the top of the spherical crown base body; the upper seat plate is arranged on the spherical crown; the longitudinal SMA energy dissipation cables are arranged between the lower seat plate and the middle seat plate; and the transverse SMA energy dissipation cables are arranged between the upper seat plate and the middle seat plate. When the horizontal displacement of the support is large, the energy dissipation and limiting effects are achieved, and the safety of a bridge is guaranteed.
