The invention discloses a large-span column-free arc-shaped vault formwork supporting system and a construction method, the supporting system adopts an arch-shaped top plate and a formwork system, the formwork system is used for supporting the arch-shaped top plate, is arranged between the arch-shaped top plate and a bottom layer top plate, and comprises an upper part and a lower part which are detachably connected. Before the arched top plate is hoisted, the upper portion of the formwork system and the arched top plate can be installed in advance, meanwhile, construction operation of the lower portion of the formwork system is conducted on the bottom layer top plate, the two construction operations are conducted at the same time and do not interfere with each other, and after the two construction operations are completed, the upper portion of the formwork system is connected with the lower portion of the formwork system. By the adoption of the temporary supporting structure, on the premise that reliable supporting is guaranteed, the construction period can be greatly shortened, and the construction efficiency is improved; and meanwhile, the joint of the upper part and the lower part is within the preset height range, so that constructors can construct at a proper height, and the safety of the constructors is ensured.
