The invention relates to an expansion joint for a wheel-type load handling device such that a plurality of rails are arranged in a grid pattern comprising a plurality of grid cells, each rail of the plurality of rails having an upper surface that is contoured to provide two parallel rail surfaces defining a dual rail for guiding two wheel-type load handling devices, the expansion joint comprising: a first rail element (206) and a second rail element (208), each of the first and second track elements provides a portion of a track of a plurality of tracks, the first and second track elements are elongated, and each of the first and second track elements has an interfacing portion (210a, 210b) arranged to slide relative to each other in a longitudinal direction to provide a dual track, the dual track comprises two parallel track surfaces (110a, 110b) extending from a first track element (206) to a second track element (208) and adapted to guide two wheeled load handling devices across the expansion joint, where the contiguous portion (210b) of the second track element (208) is arranged such that the contiguous portion (210a) of the first track element (206) is rotated 180 DEG about a vertical axis.
