Comprising the following steps: selecting electrical porcelain pug with the moisture content of 17.0-17.5%, and aging the electrical porcelain pug for more than 120 hours; and carrying out a ball-milling feeding process on the electric porcelain pug after the aging period to obtain the electric porcelain pug with the optimal grain composition. In the preparation process of the insulator, the pug quality and the blank forming precision are improved, deformation and cracking in the drying process are reduced, the insulator is treated more perfectly in the links of drying, trimming, glazing and the like by adopting a special shade drying process and a fine process flow, the quality and reliability of the hollow porcelain insulator are improved, and the production cost is reduced.
