The invention belongs to the technical field of ceramic materials, and discloses a method for preparing a ceramic material by utilizing hazardous aluminum ash waste, which comprises the following steps: separating aluminum, aluminum oxide, aluminum carbide and aluminum nitride mixed powder from secondary aluminum ash by an electric separation method; grinding the mixed powder, and sieving with an eight-mesh sieve; adding the screened mixed powder and carbon black powder into a stirring type high-energy ball mill for ball milling; putting the ground mixed powder into a carbon tube furnace, introducing flowing nitrogen into the carbon tube furnace, and carrying out staged heating to obtain aluminum nitride powder: adding Y2O2 into the aluminum nitride powder, and carrying out mixed grinding in absolute ethyl alcohol for six hours; preparing the AlN powder into a blank; and the blank is placed in an atmosphere pressurization sintering furnace to be sintered, and the AlN ceramic sintered body is prepared. According to the method, mixed powder of aluminum, aluminum oxide, aluminum carbide and aluminum nitride can be extracted from the aluminum ash, then the mixed powder is heated and subjected to heat preservation in different atmospheres at different temperature sections, aluminum nitride is generated, then aluminum nitride ceramic is formed, and waste is turned into wealth.
