The invention relates to the technical field of electric porcelain insulators, and particularly discloses a preparation method of glaze powder for an ultrahigh-voltage porcelain insulator, which comprises the following steps: S1, preparing glaze which comprises the following raw materials in parts by mass: 10-20 parts of microcline, 10-20 parts of albite, 5-15 parts of high-plasticity clay, 7-12 parts of kaolin, 10-14 parts of calcined talc, 4-10 parts of wollastonite and 15-25 parts of quartz powder; 6-10 parts of zirconium silicate and 2-6 parts of aluminum oxide; s2, grinding the raw materials in the step S1 to obtain fine powder; s3, removing coarse particles and iron impurities in the fine powder to obtain the glaze powder. According to the scheme, the bending strength of the porcelain insulator is improved, so that the bending strength of the porcelain insulator can reach 220-233 MPa.
