The invention discloses rapid repair mortar and a preparation method thereof, and the rapid repair mortar comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 300-500 parts of coated modified magnesium oxide, 100-150 parts of phosphate, 0-50 parts of a thickening time control agent, 300-600 parts of quartz sand, 60-100 parts of a ground admixture and 5-20 parts of a rheological agent. All the powder materials are uniformly mixed, a proper amount of mixing water is added, and the mixture is uniformly stirred. The magnesium oxide particles are subjected to surface coating modification, and the reaction activity of magnesium oxide can be reduced at a relatively low calcination temperature, so that the operable time of the magnesium phosphate cement-based repair material is prolonged, and meanwhile, an in-situ polymer modified layer is formed on the surfaces of the magnesium oxide particles; the bonding performance of the magnesium phosphate gel with other powder and aggregate is enhanced. In addition, resource utilization can be carried out on harmful solid waste such as red mud and nickel slag, the aluminum phase and the iron phase can react with phosphate to generate new mineral phases, and the mechanical performance and durability of the magnesium phosphate material are improved.
