The invention belongs to the technical field of building construction monitoring, and particularly relates to a foundation pit depth measuring device and a measuring method thereof.The measuring device comprises a connecting rod mechanism, a controller, a rotary encoder, a guide wheel, a take-up wheel, a line body and a balancing weight and further comprises a rotary seat, a base and a locking assembly, the guide wheel is arranged on the connecting rod mechanism, one end of the wire body is connected to the take-up wheel, the other end of the wire body penetrates through the guide wheel and then is connected with the balancing weight, and the rotary encoder is connected to one side of the guide wheel. The rotating seat is horizontally and rotationally connected with the base; the locking assembly can lock the rotating seat at the current position, and when the rotating seat needs to rotate, the locking assembly can unlock the rotating seat. Compared with the prior art, the foundation pit depth measuring device has the advantages that depth testing can be conveniently carried out on multiple point positions in the foundation pit, meanwhile, the testing point positions of the measuring device are convenient to switch, and the foundation pit is measured more accurately.
