The method (1) comprises: providing (1001) a climbing crane; building (1006) the tower by lifting and fastening the tower sections and/or detaching the tower by disengaging and lowering the tower sections; a fixing measure, preferably a temporary fixing measure, is carried out for fixing the tower in the installed state, in particular if the wind load of the tower is expected, characterized in that the climbing crane, in particular the weight of the climbing crane, is taken into account when the fixing measure is carried out.
