Provided are a fire prevention apparatus and a fire prevention method capable of improving the sealing performance of a sub-gate device, the fire prevention apparatus comprising: a door frame installed in a vertical passage between an upper floor and a lower floor of a building or in a horizontal passage between a first compartment and a second compartment of the building; a guide rail provided at one side of the door frame to guide an elevator through the vertical channel or to guide a carriage through the horizontal channel; the main gate device is mounted on the door frame so as to open or close a main channel space between the door frame and the guide rail; and the sub gate device is mounted on the main gate device so as to close the inner space of the guide rail in a manner of being associated with the main gate device when the main gate device is closed.
