The invention provides an excavator engine start-stop control system and method.The excavator engine start-stop control system comprises a switch assembly, a power source control unit, a power source relay, a main controller, a start control unit and an engine controller; one end of the one-key starting switch is respectively connected with the power supply control unit, the main controller and the normally open contact output end of the power supply relay, and the other end of the one-key starting switch is respectively connected with the positive electrode of the excavator system power supply and the input end of the normally open contact of the power supply relay; the coil end of the power supply relay is connected with the main controller through a diode, and the main controller is respectively connected with the starting control unit and the engine controller. According to the invention, control of power-on and power-off of the whole machine and start-stop of the engine is realized through multi-stage safety redundancy control, the function safety design requirement of the system under coupling start-stop control can be effectively ensured, and the system reliability is enhanced while the intelligent degree of the system is improved.
