The invention belongs to an externally-hung cast-in-place box girder prestress tensioning platform and a construction method thereof. The prestress tensioning platform comprises an externally-hung tensioning platform body, a movable hanging bracket and a guide rail. The externally-hung tensioning platform body is provided with a bottom frame controlled by a hydraulic cylinder, an arm frame and a tensioning hydraulic cylinder which is flexibly moved through a butt-joint disc and a movable plate to align with a cast-in-place box girder prestress tensioning steel bar. The externally-hung cast-in-place box girder prestress tensioning platform can be matched with a movable hanging bracket or a forklift to conduct tensioning operation on cast-in-place box girder prestress steel bars on the upper end face of a cast-in-place box girder or the ground at the front end of the cast-in-place box girder according to different geographic positions of the cast-in-place box girder. And a constructor can place and operate the tensioning hydraulic cylinder on the tensioning platform in cooperation with mechanical operation, and the defects of a traditional method are overcome. The construction method has the advantages of wide construction surface, mechanical operation, transverse movement alignment, time and labor saving in placement of the tensioning hydraulic cylinder, good safety, high efficiency and high construction speed.
