The invention belongs to the technical field of ZTA ceramic materials, and particularly relates to a surface modification method of a ZTA ceramic chopper material. The modification method comprises the following specific modification steps: 1) degreasing a ZTA ceramic blank; (2) carrying out primary sintering on the ZTA ceramic blank; (3) injecting chromium ions; and 4) secondary sintering. Compared with the prior art, the preparation method has the technical advantages that the chromium ions are injected into the surface layer of the ZTA ceramic material, meanwhile, secondary sintering treatment is added, the chromium ions exist in the form of chromium oxide, the chromium oxide can smoothen defects in a ZTA ceramic crystal structure, meanwhile, reaction between ZTA ceramic and other substances is reduced, and the performance of the ZTA ceramic material is improved. And due to the characteristic of ion implantation, the thickness and distribution of chromic oxide on the surface layer of the ZTA ceramic material are more uniform, so that the consistency between different ZTA ceramic chopper products is better.
