The method comprises the steps that tailings are separated into first-stage tailings and second-stage tailings, and the particle size of the first-stage tailings is larger than that of the second-stage tailings; the secondary tailings are ground, and the particle size of the ground secondary tailings is smaller than 0.1-0.15 mm; preparing filling slurry; the ground secondary tailings are mixed with cement and water, then the primary tailings are added, and filling slurry is obtained after full stirring and mixing; the mass ratio of the secondary tailings to the cement is (1-1.5): 1, and the mass ratio of the primary tailings to the sum of the secondary tailings and the cement is (1-3): 1; and the goaf is backfilled with filling slurry. According to the method, the tailings are separated into the first-stage tailings and the second-stage tailings, the second-stage tailings are ground and then mixed with the cement, and therefore the mass ratio of the tailings to the cement is increased, the comprehensive utilization effect of the tailings is greatly improved, and the overall utilization rate of the tailings is increased.
