The invention discloses a thickness control device for a steel bar protective layer of a bridge pier column and a using method of the thickness control device. The device comprises a concrete block, a first threaded rod, a second threaded rod, a sleeve, an adapter, a swing rod, a locking piece, a telescopic rod and a clamping block, wherein the first threaded rod, the second threaded rod, the sleeve, the adapter, the swing rod, the locking piece and the clamping block are made of metal. The front side face of the concrete block is a positioning face, the rear side face of the concrete block is fixedly connected with and extends out of a first threaded rod, the first threaded rod and a second threaded rod are sleeved with the two ends of a sleeve in a matched mode through opposite threads respectively, the front portion of an adapter is fixedly connected with the rear end of the second threaded rod, and the rear portion of the adapter is provided with the front ends of two swing rods in a swing mode. The locking piece is installed on the adapter and used for locking and unlocking the angles of the two swing rods, the front ends of the two telescopic rods are connected to the rear ends of the two swing rods in a threaded mode respectively and can be adjusted to stretch out and draw back in a threaded mode, and the two clamping blocks are fixedly connected to the rear ends of the two telescopic rods respectively and used for being clamped to the side portions of two adjacent bridge pier column main reinforcements respectively. The device can adapt to various main reinforcement intervals and reinforcement protection layer thicknesses, cannot damage concrete blocks and is not prone to displacement.
