The invention discloses an expressway design element optimization method and system in an automatic driving mixed driving environment, and the method comprises the steps: collecting environment data of a target road section, and generating a road horizontal, vertical and horizontal line shape, the number of vehicles, the vehicle model proportion and the speed; designing a traffic scene based on the environment data in combination with map data, and constructing a virtual basic scene; obtaining an evaluation index of a related evaluation criterion; analyzing the driving characteristic difference between the automatic driving vehicle and the manual driving vehicle, establishing a road design scheme under different road design element values in combination with road design specifications, and obtaining evaluation index values; and constructing a multi-criterion evaluation model, obtaining a relative comprehensive score of each traffic scene working condition, taking the road design scheme corresponding to the highest relative comprehensive score as a final scheme, and completing optimization of the road design elements. According to the method, the safety, efficiency and adaptability of the road are improved, and the method has engineering application value and significance on the road design problem under the mixed driving environment of automatic driving and manual driving vehicles in the future.
