The guardrail comprises a telescopic guardrail body and further comprises a protection mechanism, the protection mechanism comprises a cylinder body arranged on one of two adjacent hinged rods of the telescopic guardrail body, a cavity is formed in the side wall of the cylinder body, and the telescopic guardrail body is arranged in the cavity. The bottom of the cylinder body is provided with a one-way inlet valve and a one-way outlet valve which are used for communicating the interior of the cylinder body with the interior of the cavity, the interior of the cylinder body is connected with a piston in a sliding and sealing mode, non-Newtonian fluid is arranged in the cylinder body, and a piston rod is hinged to the end, away from the bottom of the cylinder body, of the piston; the end, away from the piston, of the piston rod is hinged to the other one of the two adjacent hinge rods. By arranging the protection mechanism, if a worker falls down and collides with the guardrail, non-Newtonian fluid in the cylinder body is changed into a solid under sudden impact force, sliding of the piston can be prevented, telescopic deformation of the telescopic guardrail can be prevented, and therefore the worker is prevented from falling off from the high altitude.
