The invention discloses a design method and system for a bidirectional side type water inlet/outlet circular flow guide pier, and the method comprises the steps: firstly determining the total width of a water inlet/outlet and the length of each section, including the initial setting of an anti-vortex beam section, an adjustment section and a diffusion section; and then pier head parameters are set, including the diameter of a circular pier head, the width of a separation pier and the included angle between a side pier head and the horizontal axis, so that flow distribution and the flow state are optimized. In the design process, setting of the length of a diffusion section and the width of an internal partition pier is emphatically considered, and uniform distribution of water flow velocity is ensured by adjusting the elevation angle of a top plate. And finally, through flow state analysis and parameter adjustment, the geometrical shape of the flow guide pier and the elevation angle of the top plate are optimized, so that water flow stability is ensured, and vortexes and flow velocity pulsation are avoided. Vortex and flow velocity pulsation are prevented, and safe and efficient operation of the pumped storage power station is guaranteed.
