The construction method comprises the following steps: S1, excavation of a water storage pit: carrying out sunken excavation on a mine downtime of an abandoned mine goaf to form the water storage pit, a dam building area communicated with the water storage pit is reserved at the position where the mine goes into the pit and the terrain elevation is the lowest, and anti-seepage treatment is conducted on the water storage pit; s2, dam construction: constructing a dam in the dam construction area, and constructing a spillway beside the dam to complete reservoir construction; and S3, ecological restoration, wherein ecological restoration greening is conducted on the mine slope above the water storage pit. The reservoir is built by utilizing the sunken pit land of the abandoned mine, on one hand, the abandoned mine can be effectively treated, ecological restoration is achieved, an artificial ecological landscape is formed, on the other hand, the flood control and drainage and agricultural irrigation requirements in the district can be met, and the comprehensive benefits of flood control, irrigation, ecology and the like of the reservoir are brought into play.
