本发明目的在于提供一种具有优异的负热膨胀性能的负热膨胀材料。本发明的负热膨胀材料其特征在于,包含下述通式(1)所示的铜钒复合氧化物,CuxCayVzOt(1),式中,x表示0<x<2.50,y表示0<y<2.00,z表示1.70≤z≤2.30,t表示6.00≤t≤9.00,其中,1.00≤x+y≤3.00。
