The invention discloses a sludge balling process. The sludge balling process comprises the following steps: 1) pretreating sludge until the water content is within 70%; screening and drying the fly ash subjected to high-temperature decarburization treatment, fully mixing the fly ash with a silane coupling agent and a solvent, and drying to obtain modified fly ash; pretreating clay until the moisture content is within 15% and the particle size is 2-5mm; 2) mixing 100 parts by mass of sludge, 18-25 parts by mass of modified fly ash and 50-60 parts by mass of clay in a stirrer, and fully mixing to obtain a mixture; (3) preparing the mixture into raw material balls with the particle size of 10-30mm, and aging the raw material balls in a shady and ventilated place for more than 24 hours; and 4) sintering the raw material balls in a rotary kiln to obtain the ceramsite. Sludge, clay and fly ash waste are consumed, secondary pollution is reduced, the raw material cost of ceramsite manufacturing is reduced, and certain economic benefits are achieved.
