The invention provides a coast restoration and mangrove forest maintenance method and system.The maintenance method comprises the first stage that a seaside dam is arranged on the portion, close to the seaside, of a coastal zone, a landside dam is arranged on the portion, close to the landside, of the coastal zone, a maintenance area is arranged between the seaside dam and the landside dam, and the ground height of the maintenance area is gradually reduced; stage 2, by controlling opening of a water gate on the seaside dam, water is discharged to submerge and wash the maintenance area, and soil deposition is formed in the maintenance area; stage 3: gradually forming a wetland along with soil deposition, and planting mangrove forest plants on the wetland part; and stage 4, forming a mangrove forest along with the increase of the wetland area and the increase of mangrove forest plants, and completing the construction of the ecological coast. The coast restoration and mangrove forest maintenance method has no high requirements on the original conditions of the coast, and can be used for ecological coast construction of various coast zones with different coast conditions.
