The invention relates to an emergency braking method for engineering machinery, the engineering machinery comprises a generator, at least one motor and a main controller, the generator, the motor and the main controller are connected in series on a current loop, and the main controller is configured to receive an operation instruction from a user and provide corresponding excitation current for the generator based on the operation instruction. The current loop is configured to generate armature current on the engineering machinery, the motor is configured to drive the engineering machinery to execute corresponding operation on the basis of the armature current generated by the generator, and the method comprises the following steps: judging whether an emergency braking request is received or not on the basis of an operation instruction from a user; and upon receiving an emergency braking request, applying a reverse excitation current opposite to the current excitation current to the generator to force the at least one electric motor to decelerate.
