The invention provides a method for preparing modified carbon nanotubes and gel particles containing the modified carbon nanotubes. The preparation method of the modified carbon nanotube comprises the following steps: 1) performing first modification on a hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube by using a silane coupling agent to obtain a first modified carbon nanotube; 2) carrying out second modification on the first modified carbon nanotube by using methyl acrylate to obtain a second modified carbon nanotube; 3) carrying out third modification on the second modified carbon nanotube by using ethidene diamine to obtain a third modified carbon nanotube; 4) performing fourth modification on the third modified carbon nanotube by using methyl acrylate to obtain a fourth modified carbon nanotube; 5) performing fifth modification on the fourth modified carbon nanotube by using ethidene diamine to obtain a fifth modified carbon nanotube; and 6) performing sixth modification on the fifth modified carbon nanotube by maleic acid to obtain a sixth modified carbon nanotube.
