The invention belongs to the field of suspension bridge construction, and particularly relates to an overall adjusting device and method for a catwalk rope of a suspension bridge. The device comprises a steering beam, an anchoring beam located below the rear portion of the steering beam, a combination beam arranged in front of the steering beam, a distribution beam A temporarily fixed to the rear side face of the anchoring beam, a distribution beam D temporarily fixed to the rear side face of the distribution beam A, a center hole jack installed on the rear side face of the distribution beam D and an adjusting line. The number of the adjusting lines is at least two, and the two adjusting lines are symmetrically arranged in the vertical direction.
