The invention relates to an air water taking device based on a moisture adsorption pump and a method for taking water from ambient air. The water taking device (1100) comprises a rotary drying agent unit, a heat pump unit (1104) and a control unit. The rotary desiccant unit includes a desiccant wheel [102], a reactive air inlet [1108a], a reactive air outlet [1108b], a treated air inlet [1106a], and a treated air outlet [1106b]. The desiccant wheel [1102] includes at least a processing sector [1106] and a regeneration sector [1108] and a wheel drive mechanism. The heat pump unit [1104] includes at least one compressor, an expansion valve [1116], an evaporator [1112], and a main condenser [1110], and enables a refrigerant flow to flow in the compressor [1114], the main condenser [1110], the expansion valve [1116], and the evaporator [1112] in sequence.
