The invention provides slurry for preparing a compact tantalum carbide coating and a sintering method, and the slurry is prepared by the following steps: mixing tantalum carbide powder, a sintering aid, an adhesive and an organic solvent according to a certain mass fraction, and then mixing turbid liquid by using a ball mill to form suspension liquid; the sintering method comprises the following steps: uniformly coating the slurry on the surface of a graphite piece, then drying and curing the coating, and finally sintering the graphite piece coated with the coating. The invention aims to prepare the high-quality tantalum carbide coating slurry which is good in suspension stability, high in solid content, strong in flowability and high in coating film forming quality and does not crack after a coating is sintered by taking the tantalum carbide powder and the sintering aid as main bodies through the optimized mixed solvent. The slurry prepared by the method and the sintering process are simpler, the prepared slurry does not involve chemical reaction in the subsequent sintering process, by-products can be prevented from being generated in the chemical reaction process, and the prepared tantalum carbide coating is higher in purity and compact and flat in film crystal.
