The invention discloses a vertical shaft type water inlet for urban flood drainage. The vertical shaft type water inlet comprises a bottom plate, an underground diaphragm wall, a tunnel accident bulkhead gate, a water inlet service gate, a vertical shaft wall, a water conveying tunnel, a breather pipe and a hoist room. The bottom plate is located on the bottommost side of the water inlet vertical shaft and makes direct contact with rock mass on the lower side. The underground diaphragm wall is located on the outer side of the cross section of the water inlet vertical shaft, makes direct contact with rock mass or soil mass and is of a reinforced concrete soil retaining enclosure structure. The tunnel accident bulkhead gate is located on the inner side of the water inlet vertical shaft. The water inlet service gate is positioned at an inner side wellhead of the water inlet vertical shaft; the water delivery tunnel is positioned on the lower side of the water inlet vertical shaft and is vertically communicated with the water inlet vertical shaft; the breather pipe is arranged in the tunnel accident bulkhead gate and the water inlet service gate; the hoist room is arranged on the upper portion of the water inlet vertical shaft. The well wall stress condition is good, the total investment is small, the construction progress is fast, and operation scheduling and management are convenient.
