The protection method comprises the following steps that the included angle between a movable arm and a bucket rod is measured through a movable arm angle sensor and a bucket rod angle sensor, and actions are divided into no-load pressure building, no-load adjustment and on-load excavation in combination with the pressure of a main pump; when the included angle between the movable arm and the bucket rod is smaller than the minimum included angle and the main pump pressure is larger than the first pressure, it is judged that no-load pressure building action is conducted at the moment, rotation brake is started, and a rotation motor cannot rotate; when the included angle between the movable arm and the bucket rod is larger than the minimum included angle and the main pump pressure is smaller than the second pressure, it is judged that no-load adjustment is conducted at the moment, rotation brake is started, and the rotation motor cannot rotate; and when the included angle between the movable arm and the bucket rod is larger than the minimum included angle and the main pump pressure is larger than the second pressure, it is judged that the on-load excavation action is carried out at the moment, and rotation braking is relieved. When the excavator is located on a slope to carry out excavation work, loss of a brake pad of the rotary motor is reduced while sliding of the excavator is avoided, safety of excavation work is guaranteed, and cost is reduced.
