The invention discloses a shear type damping device for connecting a U-shaped wall and a steel column and a connecting method of the shear type damping device. The shear type damping device comprises a lead core damper and a connecting piece. The connecting piece is of a T-shaped steel structure; the two ends of each lead core damper are fixedly connected with the connecting pieces, the lead core dampers are fixedly connected with web plates of the connecting pieces, and flange plates of the adjacent connecting pieces are arranged on the two sides of the lead core dampers correspondingly and are arranged in parallel.
