The invention provides a self-standing inner and outer cylinder type steel chimney construction method which is a mounting method for assembling crawling ladder platforms and temporary operation platforms of all sections of a chimney on the ground and assembling all the sections of the chimney in a high-altitude mode and comprises the steps that 1, construction preparation is conducted, specifically, temporary operation platform suspension points are reserved on all the sections of the chimney, and the temporary operation platforms for temporary suspension are manufactured; crawling ladder platforms of all sections of the chimney are assembled; step 2, installation of the crawling ladder platforms: installing the parts, located above the ground, of all sections of the crawling ladder platforms of the chimney on the ground; and 3, high-altitude assembly is conducted, specifically, all the sections of the chimney are hoisted in place in sequence from bottom to top. By means of the mode of combining ground segmented assembly and high-altitude segmented assembly, the effects of improving the efficiency of operators and machines, reducing the risk of high-altitude operation and shortening the construction period are achieved.
