A pivot hinge has a pivot pin member for pivotally connecting a pivoting door leaf to a structural element. The hinge includes a first cam follower on a first side of the pivot pin member and a second cam follower on a second side of the pivot pin member opposite the first side, both the first cam follower and the second cam follower being movable in a radial direction relative to the cam. A slidable reciprocating member is disposed within the housing and has a first end and a second end rigidly connected to each other. The cam has a pair of recesses. A spring arrangement is disposed between the second cam follower and the second end and urges the first cam follower and the second cam follower against the cam and into the respective recesses to provide a holding torque to hold the door leaf in the holding position.
